Flip Flames is an emerging artist headed to the top of the ranks of talented hip-hop/rap artist from the Pottstown, Pennsylvania area.
Flip Flames began his lyrical journey several years ago, when after discovering a true passion for rap and hip-hop music, he and his friends began recording music on a desk-top computer at age 13. After realizing that he had a true knack for spitting rhymes, producing, mixing beats, & making beats he began recording several unofficial mixtapes and passing them out on the streets of his hometown. This eventually led to his older brother taking him up to several colleges in the area where he rapped and battled in many cyphers. He then decided there was a need for studio equipment, and was able to hustle up funds for a make-shift recording studio.
After awhile the age old cliche of "sex, money and drugs" caused him to derail a bit from his original focus, which was to put out official mixtapes to create buzz on a local and national level. Flash forward to 2011, after some legal troubles, Flip Flames was able to put many of his demons aside and get his head back in the game. He linked up with several childhood friends and together they were able to make many upgrades to his original recording studio and he was able to put together the mixtape "The Handout: Vol. 1" Hosted by DJ Smoke which is available for free download on Datpiff.com, along with his Sophomore mixtape “The Handout: Vol.2” Hosted by DJ Smoke which includes a feature by major artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania “Ar-Ab”. He has created a local buzz by creating several music videos for tracks on his mixtapes including the track "You've Been Warned", a freestyle with a fellow Pottstown rapper, which has garnered well over 2,000 views on YouTube and also a video with Philadelphia artist “Ar-Ab” which has garnered well over 30,000 views.
With his newly upgraded studio and completed mixtapes, Flip Flames has been able to perform many shows in and around the tri-state area and along the east coast. Currently, he is ready and willing to do whatever it takes to get his music out to the masses. He is working steadily on "The Handout: Vol.2.5" and his demo to be shopped around to various record labels. He is also working on his independent EP to be distributed by various independent music distribution companies such as iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc.
